Optimizely - Delivering better software, products and growth.
Optimizely is a software and product development company that uses A/B testing to measure the success of their products and services. They were looking to implement a search on their website without having to redesign their entire website. Working with their engineering team under a tight deadline, I help design various explorations of how search could work on their website without compromising the current look and feel of the website.
Challenge
The challenge was to explore options for search without redesigning the website. I worked with the engineering team to assess the existing codebase and determine what needed to be done to incorporate a search. We had to consider the performance implications that would come with the addition of a search and how it would impact the user experience. Additionally, we had to ensure that the search would not compromise the look and feel of the website.
Solutions Explored
We explored various options to incorporate a search while keeping the existing codebase intact. We tested different algorithms to ensure optimal performance, and used A/B testing to validate our results. Additionally, we looked at different ways to integrate the search into the existing website design without compromising its look and feel
Results
The outcome of our various explorations was successful - we were able to successfully implement a search on the website without needing to redesign it entirely. This improved the user experience for customers, allowing them to quickly find content and features that they were looking for. Additionally, it provided us with an efficient way to add new content and features in the future.
Conclusion
This case study has shown that leveraging existing codebase, A/B testing, and algorithms can be effective tools in designing a successful search solution. In order for future projects to be successful, it is important to establish clear objectives and timeline for the project, leverage existing resources, and validate results before implementation. Doing so will ensure that projects are completed on time and lead to successful implementations.
